Early Childhood & Preschool Classes (ages 2.5-4)

  • Little Learners (ages 2-3, w/ parent or caregiver)
Parents and caregivers help children to explore a world full of movement, music, and dance!  Using creative props and instruments, this class inspires movement and gross motor skill development through age appropriate creative activities and play.  Tunnels, parachutes, and scarves are just a few of the delightful things for your child to discover.  Improves socialization, listening skills, self-expression, and coordination in a relaxed format.  Class is performed in bare feet.  This is a single-semester class.

  • Leap 'n Learn (ages 2-3)

  • Preschool Dance (ages 3-4)
An introduction to dance for preschoolers.  Students learn the fundamental concepts of movement through games, songs, and guided activities.  While practicing developmentally-appropriate skills and basic dance steps, students learn to recognize how their own bodies relate within a space, develop the connection between their brains and bodies, explore concepts of music and time, and memorize simple dance sequences.  The beginning portion of the class is devoted to tap dance, while the remainder is performed in ballet shoes and incorporates a combination of ballet, modern, movement concepts, spatial and auditory components, and free/interpretive movement.  Tap and ballet shoes are required.

  • Magnificent Moving Kids (ages 3-4)
Hop, skip, jump, dance, and move in this fun class!  Age appropriate activities keep kids moving and foster a love of dance and movement.  The movement vocabulary for each level follows that age group’s natural development pattern and consists of steps which a 3 or 4 year old can master.  Practices gross motor skills, rhythm, sequential memory, kinesthetic memory, balance, coordination, and listening skills while building stamina and strength.  Songs, stories, and guided movement activities are used to develop imaginative and expressive movement.  Kids develop spatial awareness through recognizing shapes, patterns, and movement concepts, and build auditory awareness through learning to differentiate sounds in music.  Students also explore anatomy and how it relates in a dance setting.  An excellent beginning dance class for your preschooler!  Class is performed in bare feet.
